J. HOWARD DIES; RITES WEDNESDAY

CLEAR LAKE – John Raymond Howard, 69, died Sunday at the Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Des Moines, where he had been a patient nine days.

Mr. Howard had been employed on the farm of Dan Spilman for 20 years.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Wilcox Funeral Home with Dr. John DeLong of the Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be from veterans organizations.

Mr. Howard was born Aug. 31, 1895, at Arcola, Mo., the son of John Raymond and Augusta (Folsom) Howard. He served in World War I.

He has one nephew, Lawrence Duckert, Mason City. He was preceded in death by one brother, Seth.
