HUGH, SPILMAN, EASTMAN, HOLMES, JOHNSON

RITES HELD MONDAY FOR MRS. GEORGE HUGH

Funeral services were held on Monday at the Congregational church for Mrs. George Hugh, 72, 914 S. 8th street, who died Friday evening at a nursing home. Dr. E. W. Day, pastor, conducted the services and burial was in Clear Lake cemetery. Wilcox funeral home was in charge.

Mrs. Hugh was born Minnie Spilman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Spilman, Clear Lake, March 5, 1879. She married Mr. Hugh in 1911 and they established their residence in Clear Lake and lived there continuously. Mrs. Hugh was a member of Amvets Auxiliary No. 135.

Mrs. Hugh is survived by three sons, Ashton, Max and Leslie, all of Clear Lake, 3 brothers, Dan, Tom and Harry Spilman, Clear Lake and 3 sisters, Mrs. Earl Eastman, Clear Lake; Mrs. Clair J. Holmes, Nora Springs, and Mrs. Chester Johnson, Igloo, S. Dak.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who died in 1943 and two brothers, Alex and Ned Spilman.

Dale, Dan, Jr., Lloyd, Orville and Sam Spilman and Don Eastman, all nephews of Mrs. Hugh, were the pallbearers.

Miss Beatrice Grimshaw sang 2 selections and Mrs. Henry Volstad was the organist. Mmes. Lloyd Crozier, Will Schafer and Glenn Westover arranged the flowers.

Transcriber’s Note – Minnie Hugh was born March 5, 1879, died July 20, 1951 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section E Row 10.
