LESLIE M. HUGH

CLEAR LAKE – Leslie M. Hugh, 74, of 542 U.S. Highway 18 West, Clear Lake, died Friday (April 23, 1993) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake. Sister Elaine Frank, OSF, will officiate, with burial in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to the Leslie M. Memorial Fund.

He was born Oct. 29, 1918, at Clear Lake, the son of George and Minnie (Spilman) Hugh. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1936. He served in the United States Army in the 34th Division during World War II. After the service, he returned to Clear Lake and worked for Clear Lake Watertower and Paint.

He married Jeanne Bieber Dec. 15, 1945, in Charles City. In 1953, he began working for the Clear Lake Post Office as a city mail carrier. He retired from the post office in 1975.

He enjoyed golfing, gardening and playing cards at the corner table at All-Vets Golf Club. He was a member of the Clear Lake V.F.W. and the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Hugh, of Clear Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ashton and Max Hugh.
