JACK D. HYDE

CLEAR LAKE – Jack D. Hyde, 67, of 8 East Gate Court, Clear Lake, died Monday (March 28, 1994) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church, Clear Lake, with Rev. Charles Williams officiating. Interment will be in Ventura Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. The family suggests memorials in his name.

He was born March 5, 1927, in Ventura, the son of James and Doris (Minton) Hyde. He graduated from Ventura High School in 1944.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Myrtle Pinneke March 11, 1945, in Mason City. In 1952, he started working for Northern Natural Gas Company. They lived in Ventura, Bloomington, Minn., Spirit Lake and Spencer. He retired in 1983 from Northern Natural Gas as a corrosion specialist.

They moved to Clear Lake in 1993 to their present home on East Gate Court, where they have appreciated the wonderful support of the neighborhood.

He loved to fish, play golf, go to Jackpot Junction and, most of all, play with his dog, Bunny.

He held many offices in United Methodist Church in Ventura. While in Clear Lake, he belonged to First Congregational Church, Clear Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Hyde of Clear Lake; a son, Dann Hyde and his wife, Cindy, of Everly; four grandchildren, Chris Hyde, Jesse Hyde, Stacy Hyde and Jackie Hyde; two step-grandchildren, Melissa Britton and Teri Britton; five great grandchildren, Lindsay, Alex, Allison, Andrew and Treavor Hyde; one sister, Mrs. Arlys Horton and her husband, Roger, of New Hampton; and one aunt, Fanny Abel of Ventura. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard Hyde; and one infant son, Douglas Hyde.
