FUNERAL SERVICES OF YOUNG MOTHER TO BE TUESDAY, 2 O’CLOCK

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Mrs. Donald Ebaugh, 25, of 308 Bell Street, who died at a Mason City hospital Saturday afternoon following the birth of a daughter that morning, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Congregational Church. The Rev. Russell E. Pope, Mason City will be in charge and Mrs. Harold Askew, Seattle, Wash., evangelist, will speak.

The Rev. J. B. Calhoun, pastor of the church, will assist and burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Ward’s funeral home is making the arrangements.

Mary Elizabeth Merwin was born Oct. 7, 1914, at Dayton, Texas, the eldest child of the Rev. and Mrs. Chauncey Merwin. She was graduated from the Des Moines parochial school in 1932 and was employed as cashier for a paint company there until the Family moved to Clear Lake in October, 1933. She was gifted in music, singing lyric soprano and playing the guitar.

May 13, 1939, she was married to Mr. Ebaugh, who with their daughter, Patricia Ferne, survives. Mrs. Ebaugh is also survived by her parents, The Rev. and Mrs. Merwin, 100 East Main Street; five brothers, Arthur, James, Ralph, David and Paul; and nine sisters, Helen, Kathryn, Jane, Ruth, Doris, Carol May, Althea, Sara and Pauline, all of Clear Lake, and her grandmother, Mrs. Mary Eyestone, Chicago.

Mrs. Ebaugh was a member of Bethel Chapel of which her father was pastor and assisted in the musical activities and Sunday School.

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Mrs. Donald Ebaugh, 25, who died at a Mason City hospital Saturday afternoon following a brief illness, were held at the Congregational Church Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. Russell E. Pope, Mason City, was in charge; Mrs. Harold Askew, evangelist from Seattle, Wash., gave the sermon and the Rev. J. B. Calhoun, pastor of the church, assisted.

Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery. Ward’s Funeral Home made the arrangements.

Pallbearers were Bud Ebaugh, Don and Ed DeBell, Earl Hill, Ralph Dodd, and Jim Levisay. Mrs. Melvin Ouverson and Mrs. Horace Kirk, accompanied by Mrs. Askew, sang “Some Time We’ll Understand,” “Close to Thee,” and “Safe in the Arms of Jesus.”

Transcriber’s Note – Mary Elizabeth Ebaugh was born October 7, 1914, died 1940 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section E Row 7.
