BLANCHE E. BAST

Mrs. Blanche E. Bast, 87, of 601 S. 11th St., Clear Lake, died Monday Dec. 19, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Mason City, of natural causes.

A Mass of Resurrection was held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Edward Shields officiating. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 10, 1901, in Fairfield, the daughter of Clark and Lulu (Prunty) Thompson. She attended the rural school in Garner and graduated from Garner High School in 1920.

She married Raymond Bast on Feb. 15, 1926, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Garner. They lived on a farm northeast of Garner for seven years, moving to a farm by Clear Lake in 1933. They farmed until 1967 when they moved to their present home in Clear Lake.

She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake and a member of the Sing and Sew Club.

Survivors include one brother, Robert Thompson, Garner. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.

Honorary pallbearers were Scott Hinrichs, Robert Molsberry and Del Rasmusson.

Active pallbearers were Dennis O’Keefe, Don Ackarman, Craig Ackarman, Gene Hinrichs, Douglas Thompson and William Brennan. Marie Faber was the organist.

Transcriber’s Note – Blanche Bast was born September 10, 1901, died December 19, 1988 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section F Row 7.
