EDITH A. WARD

CLEAR LAKE – Edith A. Ward,89, No. 111 Lakeland Apartments, died Monday (Aug. 15, 1988) at home, of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. The Rev. Keith Tomlinson will officiate, with burial in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Ward was born Feb. 21, 1899, in Flanigan, Ill., to George and Eva (Schaffer) Schimel. She was raised in the Wesley area.

On July 25, 1916, she married George Ward at Wesley.

Mrs. Ward worked as a cook at Clear Lake Junior High School for 14 years. Later, she worked as a cook at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, church circle, and Clear Lake Senior Citizens.

Visitation will be after 3 this afternoon at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth, Clear Lake. Memorials may be given to the Edith A. Ward Memorial Fund.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Art (Ruth) Nuehring, and Dorothy Haag, both of Clear Lake; a son, Chan Ward, Clear Lake; a sister, Mathilda Hills, Racine, Wis., and 12 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.
