MRS. WARD DIES SUDDENLY

The community was shocked to learn of the demise of Mrs. W. H. Ward which had occurred early that morning. Deceased had been in her usual health up to the middle of last week when she was taken sick with tonsillitis. It was a severe case and turned from that to scarlet fever, resulting in her death as stated above. Every effort was put forth to save her life but all was in vain and a loving husband is left to battle the trials of life alone.

Sarah Angeline Phinney was born where she passed her girlhood. Fifteen years of her life was spent in teaching in her native state after which she moved to Kent, Wash., whither her parents had preceded her. Returning East she was married in 1893 to Mr. Wm. Ward at Nashua, Ia. From Nashua, she moved with her husband to Motley, Minn., where she taught in the high school. Her early training was received in a Baptist home but upon going to Motley she united with the Methodist Church of which she was a member at the time of her death. Mrs. Ward was of a quiet, retiring disposition, but well loved by those who knew her.

Besides a husband there is a sister residing in Kent, Wash., left to mourn her death.

Funeral services were held from the home on Monday, Rev. F. B. Stafford, of the Methodist Church in charge. Interment was made in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note – Sarah Angeline Ward was born 1858, died April 1911 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section A Row 7.
