WILLIAM MADSEN

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for William Madsen, 78, of 1008 5th Ave. S., Clear Lake, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake. He died Tuesday (Jan. 26, 1982) at a Mason City nursing home.

Mr. Madsen was well-known as a contractor and cabinet-maker for over 50 years in Clear Lake.

Born in 1903 in Slesvig-Holsteen, Denmark, he was the son of Marius and Anna Madsen. He married Vivian Eibey in 1924 in Clear Lake.

He was the manager of the Farmers’ Lumber Co., Clear Lake, for several years and was head of the Clear Lake 4th of July Parade in the early 1960s. Mr. Madsen was a member of the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, Lions Club, and a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge for over 50 years.

Dr. Lyle Lieder will officiate and burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian; one daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Marilyn) Schager, Alden; one son, Donald, Fort Dodge; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. William (Marie) Lacey, Belmond, and Mrs. Milton (Esther) Blomquist, Escalton, Calif.

Transcriber’s Note – William Madsen was born October 24, 1903, died January 26, 1982 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section G Row 7.
