L. G. LITZEL, 73, DIES IN HOSPITAL
ARRANGEMENTS FOR FUNERAL INCOMPLETE

CLEAR LAKE – Louis G. Litzel, 73, died at a hospital in Cherokee Sunday following an illness of about a year, it was learned Monday. Williams funeral home is in charge. The body is expected to arrive in Clear Lake Monday evening.

Mr. Litzel was born in Pennsylvania Oct. 10, 1869, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Litzel and came to Dubuque when a small child and to Cherokee County when 8 years old.

Sept. 16, 1895, he was married at Sutherland to Miss Charlotte Fritsch who survives. They lived in Iowa 20 years and then moved to North Dakota where they lived 20 years before coming to Clear Lake. The present home is at 201 Jefferson Street.

Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Litzel. The eldest, Mrs. Philopena Dresser, died several years ago leaving a son, Philip Dresser Litzel, who was adopted and reared by his grandparents. Two other daughters, Maude and Lula Mae, died at eight years.

Surviving are a son, Nicholas Litzel, chief petty officer with the Seabees at Camp Perry, Williamsburg, W. Va.; Rozella, now Mrs. F. P. Hodges, Long Beach, Cal., and Cpl. Philip Litzel, who has completed his work at Camp Pike, Ark., and has been assigned to an officers training camp.

Mr. Litzel, who was a farmer and carpenter during his active years, became ill last April and was cared for at home for nine months. His condition since entering the hospital had not been considered critical so his death came as a shock to his family.

Funeral arrangements await messages from the children.
