LOTTIE LITZEL DIES, RITES SATURDAY

CLEAR LAKE – Mrs. Lewis G. (Lottie) Litzel, 89, died early Friday in a Mason City rest home after a few days illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wilcox Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Charlotte Fritsch was born June 24, 1971, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Fritsch at St. Louis, Mo. At the age of 8 she moved with her parents to the Garner and Hayfield area. At 18 she was a pioneer homesteader in South Dakota.

She was married to Lewis G. Litzel in 1895 at hayfield, where Mr. Litzel operated the lumber yard. After their marriage they farmed in Sutherland and in the Dakotas, moving to Clear lake in 1935, where Mr. Litzel did carpentry work. From 1949 until September 1959 she made her home with her son, Nick, in Clear Lake, then entering the rest home.

Survivors include a son, a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Rozelle) Connery, Granby, Mo.; a grandson, Philip F. Litzel, whom she adopted after the death of his mother, Mrs. Fred (Phillipina) Dresher, her daughter, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in March 1943, three daughters, Maudie in 1918, Mrs. Dresher in 1922 and Lulu Mae in 1922, one brother and one half-sister.

Transcriber’s Note – Charlotte (Lottie) Litzel was born June 24, 1871, died October 14, 1960 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section 2 Row 7.
