HARLEY M. FRANCIS

CLEAR LAKE – Harley M. Francis, 76, of 31 Long Beach Mobile Home Park, Clear Lake, died Friday (June 13, 1986) at the IOOF home in Mason City.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th, with the Rev. Daniel Krumrei, pastor of the Christian Church of Clear Lake, officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home.

Mr. Francis was born on Sept. 1, 1909, at deer Creek, Ill., to Frank and Emma (Marlow) Francis. He attended Clear Lake schools, graduating in 1927 from Clear Lake High School. He married Dorothy R. Lee on June 8, 1935, in Unionville, Mo. The couple farmed north of Clear Lake for several years until he retired in 1965 when they moved into Clear Lake. He then sold Pioneer seed corn and fertilizer with the Smith Douglas Fertilizer Co. of Ventura.

He was a member of the IOOF Lodge 187 of Clear Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, Clear Lake; three daughters, Charlotte Swartz, White Bear Lake, Minn.; Emma Lou Francis, Clear Lake, Peggy Boeshart, Ventura; two sons, Frank Francis, Fort Dodge, and Tom Francis, St. Joseph, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
