R. FISTLER RITES CONDUCTED FROM WARD FUNERAL HOME

Funeral services for Ruben Fistler, 76, who died at a Mason City hospital Friday of injuries suffered following an auto accident May 9, were held at Ward’s Funeral Home Monday afternoon. The Rev. William R. Noland, Methodist pastor, conducted the rites and burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. William Bickford, accompanied by Mrs. Henry Volstad, sang “Rock of Ages” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” Mrs. Austin O. Pitkin and Miss Marjorie Stork arranged the flowers. Pallbearers were Ben Fredricks, John VanLoan, Edwin J. Meiners, Clifford Peterson, Loren Whalen and John Anderson.

Mr. Fistler, son of Christian and Mary Fistler, was born at Osage, Jan. 12, 1879 and came to Clear Lake when a small child. He was married to Miss Hava Jane Chaney at Hampton, Aug. 15, 1905. They Established their home in Clear Lake where Mr. Fistler was a carpenter and, later, beekeeper.

Besides his wife Mr. Fistler is survived by 10 children, Ross, Peoria, Ill.; Fred, Clear Lake; Mrs. Lee (Gertrude) Bennett, Pekin, Ill.; Mrs. H. (Hava) Thomas, Mason City; Mrs. Winfred (Marie) Burleson, Moline, Ill.; Marvin, Northwood; Merle, Pasadena, Calif.; and Clyde, Mrs. H. T. (Betty) Wilkinson and Jack, Mason City, 36 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a brother, Percy Fistler, Clear Lake.

All of the children came for the funeral the only time all have been at home at once since 1928. It was said that they are the largest family ever to be born and reared in Clear Lake.

Besides his parents, Mr. Fistler was preceded in death by three sons, two of whom died in infancy and the other, William, at 17; a brother, lee, and three sisters, Gertrude, Hattie, and Clara.

Both dinner and lunch was served at the home by neighbors and friends. The committee included Mmes. Ollie Peterson, Mary Buehler, Lynn Carter and Roy Hammond.
