HENRIK THEODORE ERICKSON

Henrik Theodore Erickson was found dead on Tuesday, Aug. 30 by his nephew Glenn Erickson, Clear Lake at his farm home, where he lived alone. Date of death has not yet been established.

Services were held at the Zion Lutheran Church on Friday, September 2, 1977, with Pastor Murley A. Severtson, officiating. Mrs. A. E. Folkmann was the organist and music was presented by the grandchildren of Mr. Erickson.

Interment was in Clear Lake Cemetery. Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Henrik Theodore Erickson was born in Stavager, Norway on April 9, 1890, the son of Henrik and Gunhild (Mauland) Erickson.

Erickson received his education in Norway and at Jewell College, Jewell, Ia.

He came to the United States at the age of 17 and settled in Tama County where he farmed. He was married to Bertha (Iverson) Erickson on Dec. 15, 1915 in Elim Lutheran Church, Marshalltown.

In 1922 they returned to Norway, and in 1926 they returned to the United States and purchased a farm southeast of Clear Lake and in 1953 bought the present farm east of Clear Lake.

Erickson was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha, and their only child, a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Gladys) Christopherson in 1969, and a son in infancy.

Surviving him are eight grandchildren and one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers were Henry Sletten, Henrik, Elmer, Glenn, E. Raymond and Erwin Erickson.
