P. J. ESPE, 80, SUCCUMBS HERE
WIDOW AND SISTER ARE ONLY SURVIVORS OF AGED MANPeter J. Espe, 80, died at his home 214 West Division street, Wednesday evening following an illness of two weeks. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Bethlehem Lutheran church with the Rev. J.O. Blaness, South Have, Minn., conducting the rites. Burial was at the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Mr. Espe who was in failing health for several years was born at Espe, Hardanger, Norway, Apr. 13, 1863. He came to America with his brothers when he was 12 years old. He first went to Jewell and when he grew up was married to Anna Olson, March 12, 1904, at Ellsworth, Iowa. They lived at Kanawha on their farm until 1912 when they came to Clear Lake to make their home.
They had no children. Besides his wife he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Anna Bly, Newell. Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Pallbearers were John Osnes, Tom Johnson, Eric Erickson, Henry Erickson, Lars Flom and Louis Knutson.
Out-of-town relatives at the funeral included Mrs. Anna Bly, Newell, Mrs. Tilda Espe, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Espe, Kanawha; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Tegland, Clarion; Mrs. Austin Hefte, Mr. and Mrs. Berhowe, Swea City; Mrs. Otto Landa and daughter, Mrs. Harold Lathrop, Ellsworth; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Neuman, Bancroft.
