INFLUENZA CLAIMS ANOTHER VICTIM
Mrs. D. C. ZRMSTRONG DEAD AS RESULT OF SEVERE ATTACK OF SPANISH INFLUENZA LAST DECEMBER

Death, always sad, was doubly so when Mrs. D. C. Armstrong, the loving wife of D. C. Armstrong, of this city, passed away at the Park hospital, Mason City, last Friday, following an illness which extended over a period of thirty days.

The end came as the result of complications due to a severe attack of Spanish influenza last December from which Mrs. Armstrong never fully recovered.

She recovered enough to be up and around doing her house work until a month ago, when again she was stricken.

She was taken to the hospital where every effort possible was made to save her life, but without avail.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church, Sunday, June 1, Rev. F. S. Jory, conducting the service, after which interment was made in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Armstrong was born at Dubuque, Iowa January 25, 1877, being 42 years of age at the time of her death.

On March 20, 1901 she was united in marriage to D. C. Armstrong and to this union three sons were born, Harold, 16, Howard, 15 and Dean 13.

Four years of her married life were spent happily at Ponca, Neb., eight more at Sioux City, then at Blue Earth, Minn., where they remained until three years ago when they located here.

During her residence in Clear Lake Mrs. Armstrong by her pleasant and friendly manner, has made many friends who extend their sympathies to the father and three sons in their loss.

Besides her husband and three sons, Mrs. Armstrong is survived by her father, John E. Skaife, of Frederic, Wis., four sisters, Mrs. Elmer Morgan, of Midland, S. D., Mrs. Chas. Crombie of Ponca, Neb., Lorene and Luverne of Frederic, Wis., and four brothers, W. A. of Sioux City, J. R. of Omaha, Samuel and Lloyd of Frederic, Wis.

Those from out of town who were present at the funeral, included her father and two brothers, W. A. Skrafe of Sioux City, and J. R. Skrafe of Omaha, as well as her brother-in-law, Charles P Crombie of Ponca, Neb.

Transcriber’s Note – Ida Armstrong was born January 25, 1877, died May 30, 1919 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section B Row 5.
