RITES HELD FOR ADAM THOMAS, 90

CLEAR LAKE -- Funeral services for Adam Thomas, 90, Mason City, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Ward Funeral Home. The Rev. A.I. Lavik, assistant pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, officiated. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Henry Volstad was accompanist and Mrs. William Bickford sang several numbers. Pallbearers were Wilfred Runge, Carl Anderson, Donald Jones and Harold Counsell.

Mr. Thomas was a shoe repair man in Clear Lake for many years. He died Friday at a Mason City nursing home.

Relatives attending included Mrs. Adam Thomas Jr., La Canada, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Don Thomas, Perry, and Mr. and Mrs. Christ Thomas, Waterloo.

A. THOMAS, 90, DIES AT MASON CITY
CLEAR LAKE – Adam Thomas, 90, died late Friday afternoon at a Mason City nursing home where he had lived for about 9 years.

Mr. Thomas with his son, Adam Thomas Jr., operated a shoe repair shop in Clear Lake for about 30 years.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Ward Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ward Funeral Home from Monday noon until time of service.

Adam Thomas was born April 18, 1869, in Hungary , the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas. He learned the shoe repair business in the old country, coming to America in 1905 and settling in Chicago.

In 1911 he moved with his family to Clear Lake where he farmed. In 1920 he and his son started a shoe repair shop at Clear Lake which they continued to operate until about 10 years ago.

His wife, the former Katherine Andel preceded him in death.

Surviving him are two sons, Adam Jr., LaCanada, Calif., and Paul, Pasadena, Calif.; and one brother, Paul, Cleveland, Ohio. He has three grandchildren, Donald of Perry, who is making the funeral arrangements; George, El Monte, Calif., and Mrs. D.L. Thompson, Inglewood, Calif.

Mrs. Adam Thomas Jr. and her mother, Mrs. Adeline Hudson, of Mason City, are expected to arrive Monday to attend the services.
