ANOTHER SOLDIER GONE
Christian Hugi was born in Bern Switzerland March 24th, 1828 and came to America in 1851 when he was 23 years old. In the war of the rebellion he took part, enlisting in Co. H. 9th Reg. Wis. Inft. Vol. on the 17 day of August 1864 at Madison Wis., and when that Regiment was reorganized, was transferred to Co. D. 9th Reg. in which he served until the close of the war and was honorably discharged June 3rd 1865.
In 1868 he was married at Lodi, Wis. to Mrs. Clarinda J. Stacker with whom he lived until his death, June 19.
He came to Clear Lake about 30 years ago from La Crosse, Wis. and worked for J.O. Davis in his tailor department until his eyes failed him. He was a respected member of the Tom Howard Post G.A.R. having joined as one of its earliest members, and by whom he was escorted to his last camping grounds in our cemetery and where his remains were laid lovingly away to await its summons to awake and arise.
His funeral was held at his late home on Saturday the 20 inst. at 2 p.m. and was conducted by the Tom Howard Post.
