ADAM THOMAS JR.

Former Clear Lake Resident Adam Thomas Jr., 83, of Congress, Saskatchewan, Canada, died July 4 in Marshalltown.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Edward Corbett of the Regular Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mr. Thomas was born in 1898 in Hungary, and came with his family to Chicago at age 11. He moved to Clear Lake when in his teens and took up his father’s work as a shoemaker.

He was married to Frieda Runge in 1917, and she preceded him in death. He married LaBonna Guston in 1937, and in 1973 he married Muriel Roszell.

He worked as a shoemaker until retirement, following which he and Muriel made their home in Canada.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Muriel, of Congress; two sons, George, El Monte, Calif., and Don, Marshalltown; three daughters, Mrs. Durwood (Mable) Thompson, Englewood, Calif.; Jean Honert, Lake City, Mich., and Mrs. Charles (Geraldine) Jones, Pasadena, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Paul, Alamo, Texas.

Transcriber’s Note – Adam Thomas, Jr. was born 1898, died July 4, 1982 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section E Row 4.
