FRED THIES DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Funeral services for Fred B. Thies, 72, who died at his home, 306 North Street, after an illness of two years, were held at the Methodist Church Monday afternoon. A short prayer service was held at the home first.

The Rev. James Miller, Bristow conducted the rites and burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.C. Davenport, Fred Linahon, Paul Loth, Elton Luscomb, Sam Hyde and Will Hollatz.

Mr. Thies was born Dec. 25, 1870, in Huston County, Minn., the son of Daniel and Mary Thies. He was married Oct. 23, 1903 to Julia Swehla at Ivanhoe, Minn., and shortly after their marriage they came to Waukon to live and later lived near Charles City. They moved to the Clear Lake community in 1922, and have lived here ever since.

Because of the failing health of Mr. Thies, he and Mrs. Thies moved last year from the farm to their residence in Clear Lake, where he has been critically ill since last July.

He is survived by his widow and four children who are, Lallie of Ivanhoe, Minn.; Clifford, Brigham City, Utah; Mrs. Leo Wood, Burchinal; and Royal of Clear Lake; two grandchildren, Marietta and Bobby Thies, Ivanhoe, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Olson, Hendricks, Minn.; and Mrs. Emma Peterson, Minneapolis, Minn.; five brothers, Daniel, Staples, Minn.; Lewis, Waukon; Roy, St. Paul, Minn,; and George and Frank, Minneapolis, Minn.; and numerous other relatives. The son Clifford and brother Lewis were unable to attend the services.

Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
