RITES HELD FOR A.W. WOOD, 82
AGED RESIDENT HAD LIVED NEAR CLEAR LAKE FOR 46YEARS

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for A.W. Wood, 82, who died Tuesday following a heart attack, were held at the home of his son, Walter Wood, southwest of Clear Lake at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon. The Rev. Roy H. Cox of the Methodist Church conducted the rites and burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery. Williams funeral home made the arrangements.

Mrs. R.A. Monaghen sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Lead, Kindly Light” as part of the service and pallbearers were family friends and neighbors.

Amos William Wood was born in New York state Jan. 4, 1855, and when a child came to Monroe, Wis., where he grew to manhood and on Feb. 22, 1880, was married to Miss Lila E. Baker.

Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Wood; Emmet Wood, Mrs. Shirley Watts, Bridgewater, S. Dak., Mrs. Floyd Knappen, Mitchell, S. Dak., and Walter and Harvey Wood, Clear Lake.

The family moved to Nevada, Iowa in 1885 and in 1891 to Clear Lake where they lived on a farm east of town until 1913 when Mr. and Mrs. Wood moved to a home on Clara Street. Mrs. Wood died in 1932 and after that Mr. Wood lived with his children until 1936 when he went to the home of G.L. Patterson where he died.

Besides his sons and daughters, Mr. Wood is survived by 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild, a brother, Stephen A. Wood, 417 Winnie Street and Mrs. Fred Mayhew, Marionville, Mo., and Mrs. Emily Jones, Derby, Kans., sisters.
