MRS. WOOD IS BURIED AT LAKE
AGED WOMAN FORMERLY LIVED AT MONTICELLO, WIS., AND NEVADA

CLEAR LAKE, NOV. 18 – Funeral services for Mrs. A.W. Wood, Clara Street, were held Friday afternoon at the home. The Rev. J. R. Tumbleson, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was made in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. Wood died Wednesday after an illness of several years. She was born near Monticello, Wis., on July 13, 1855. She remained here until young womanhood, teaching school near here previous to her marriage to Amos W. Wood, Monroe, Wis., on Feb 22, 1880. They spent four years in Wisconsin before coming to Nevada, Iowa, where they remained for six years.

In 1890 they settled on a farm east of Clear Lake where they remained until they moved to town.

She is survived by her husband, A.W. Wood, two daughters, Cecelia Watts, Clear Lake; Mrs. Amy Knappen, Mitchell, S. Dak.; two sons, Harvey and Walter, Clear Lake; two brothers, Frank Baker, Clear Lake, Addison Baker, Orange, Cal., one sister, Mrs. Celia Searls, West Union, and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Walter Wood, Harvey Wood, Shirley Watts, Jim Watts, Dick Knappen, and Vern Baker. Out-of-town relatives at the funeral were Mrs. Wood’s daughter and grandson, Mrs. Floyd Knappen and Dick Knappen, Mitchell, S. Dak., and niece, Mrs. Sydney Crow, West Union. Mrs. D.E. Kenyon and Mrs. A.H. Runcie sang two selections, “Beautiful Isle,” and “In the Garden.”

Transcriber’s Note – Lila E. Wood was born July 13, 1855, died November 1932 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section B Row 8.
