BERTHA ERICKSON

Mrs. Henrik T. (Bertha) Erickson, 81, Rt. 2, died Friday at a Clear Lake nursing home where she had been since August of last year.

Bertha Kristine Iverson was born Oct. 27, 1893, the daughter of Johan and Inger Iverson, at Stavanger, Norway. She received her education in Norway and came to the United States in 1912, settling at Grinnell, Ia.

She was married to Henrik T. Erickson on Dec. 15, 1915 in the Elim Lutheran Church at Marshalltown. They farmed in Tama County for a short time, then moved back to Norway for several years.

In 1926 they came to Clear Lake to a farm southeast of town. They lived on their present farm one and one-half miles east of Clear Lake on Hwy. 106 since 1953.

Mrs. Erickson is survived by her husband, Henrik; a son-in-law, the Rev. Ralph Christopherson, Beresford, S.D.; eight grandchildren; a brother, John Iverson, Morris, Ill.; one brother and two sisters in Norway and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys Christopherson in 19969. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and The Home Improvement Club.

Funeral services were held Mar. 2, in the Zion Lutheran Church at 1:30 p.m. Pastors L.A. Jacobson and August H. Geske officiated. Mrs. A.E. Folkmann was organist. Vocalists were eight grandchildren of Mrs. Erickson.

Pallbearers were nephews, Glenn Erickson, Elmer Erickson, Erwin Erickson, Henrick Erickson, Raymond Erickson and Henry Sletten.

Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.
