MABLE FANKELL

Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Everett (Mable) Fankell, 69, who died Jan 14 at a Mason City hospital. Pastor Dennis Ganz officiated at the Fertile Church of Christ.

Mrs. Harley Ouverson accompanied duets sung by Mrs. Bonnie Kuns and Mrs. Vesta Kuns. Burial was in Lincoln Township Cemetery. Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were DuWayne Jensen, Gerald Jensen, Harold Fankell, Marvin Miller, Sam Pedersen and a grandson, Douglas Swartz.

Mable Emile Fankell was born June 3, 1905 southeast of Thornton, the daughter of Julius and Bine “Bertelsen” Jensen. She received her education in the Thornton and Meservey schools, later moving to Clear Lake.

She was married to Everett Fankell Oct. 10, 1959 in Mason City. They farmed east of Fertile until their retirement in 1971 when they purchased and moved into their home in Clear Lake, 712 10th Ave. N.

She is survived by her husband, Everett; one daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Shirley) Swartz, Clear Lake; three grandsons, one granddaughter, two sisters, Mrs. Oliver “Olga” Olson and Mrs. Elizabeth Beaver, both of Mason City. She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Fankell was a member of the Fertile Church of Christ and the Fertile Garden Club.

Transcriber’s Note – Mable Emile Fankell was born June 3, 1905, died January 14, 1975 and was buried in the Lincoln Township Cemetery.
