H. N. HALVORSON DIES AT ROCHESTER, MINN., HOSPITAL
FORMER LAKE BANKER SUCCUMBS SUDDENLY; RITES NOT ARRANGED

CLEAR LAKE -- Henry N. Halvorson, 402 North Second street, 72, died suddenly at a hospital in Rochester, Minn., Friday morning following a major operation performed a week ago. He had been recovering with apparent satisfaction until early Friday. A blood clot is believed the cause of death.

Mr. Halvorson was born at Lyle, Minn., Nov. 21, 1871, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Halvorson. He came to Clear Lake with his parents in 1883, assisting his father in a general mercantile business for several years.

In January, 1917, Mr. Halvorson entered the Clear Lake State bank as cashier and three years later was elected its president, continuing in that capacity until 1925 when the bank was consolidated with the First National bank. Mr. Halvorson continued as president of the combined organization for a number of years.

Later he entered the field of insurance and at the time of his death represented a number of companies. He was also justice of the peace and secretary of the Clear Lake Federal Savings and Loan association, now in its eighth year. Mr. Halvorson had been one of Clear Lake’s leading businessmen for many years.

In 1903 Mr. Halvorson was married to Miss Emma Hintz of Clear Lake, who survives. They had no children.

Besides his wife, Mr. Halvorson is survived by a brother, Albert, St. Ansgar; two sisters, Miss Hattie Halvorson and Mrs. L.A. White, Los Angeles, Cal., and several other relatives.

Mr. Halvorson was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Miss Jennie Halvorson, Mrs. W.H Rosemond and Mrs. S.N. Sorenson.

He was a member of the Masonic Order, Knights of Pythias, Rotary club and Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce, serving them in many capacities during the years.

No arrangements for the funeral have been announced. The body is at Ward’s Funeral Home.
