LAKE RESIDENT DIES FOLLOWING OPERATION

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Roy Stewart, 59, who died at a Mason City hospital late Saturday evening following a major operation performed Wednesday, will be held at Ward’s Funeral Home Tuesday at 2:30 o’clock. The Rev. Warner M. Hubbard, Methodist pastor, will conduct the rites and burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mr. Stewart was born Dec. 22. 1885, on a farm in Lincoln Township, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Stewart, and when 4 years old moved with the family to a farm northwest of Clear Lake where they lived 4 years before coming to town.

He was graduated from Clear Lake High School and took a business course in Mason City before accepting a position with the Boughton grocery in Mason City. After 2 years he was employed by the local Page and Crane Lumber company until he went into partnership with his brothers, Ira and John, operating a bus and dray line in Clear Lake. His health failing, after a few years, they went to New Mexico where they operated a typical western cattle ranch for several years.. Mr. Stewart sold the ranch and returned to Clear Lake 8 years ago.

Mr. Stewart had been in failing health for the past year. Besides his brothers, Ira and John, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. W.F. Collins, all of Clear Lake.
