MRS. SOLOMON J. OTT DIES; SERVICE IS SET SATURDAY

CLEAR LAKE -- Mrs. Solomon J. (Evalena) Ott, 96, long-time Clear Lake resident died Thursday at a Clear Lake nursing home where she had been for the last five years.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Worthie K. Usher officiating. Burial will be in the Clear lake Cemetery.

Evalena Ferner was born Feb. 4, 1874 at Lockport, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W Ferner. She lived in Plainfield, Ill., until 1885 when her mother died. At that time she went to live with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Smith, at Washington, Ill.

In 1896, she was married to Solomon Ott and they moved to Clear Lake where he was in the meat market business with his family. They lived on farms in the vicinity until their retirement. After selling their farm, they made their home with a daughter, Mrs. (Frances) Miller.

Mr. Ott died in 1955 and Mrs. Ott continued to make her home with her daughter until going to the nursing home.

Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Ed (Ruth) Lincicum, both of Clear Lake; 12 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Harlan in 1949 and Ralph in 1959.

Mrs. Ott was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, the Women’s Society of Christian Service, Golden Wedding Club, Daughters of Union Veterans and the Retired Farmers.

Soloist will be Don Kacer and Mrs. Harry Mason will be organist. Pallbearers selected include grandsons Larry Miller, John T. Ott, Ralph Ott, Don Ott, Kenneth Lincicum, and Clayton Lincicum.
