Betty Lou (Rampton) Johnson, 87, of Newton, formerly of Mason City, died on Friday, March 14, 2014.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, at the First Presbyterian Church, 220 N. Second Ave. E. in Newton.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

Memorials to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Good Samaritan Fund of Park Centre may be left at the funeral home or at the church on the morning of the funeral service. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Johnson Family on the envelope.

Those left to honor Betty Lou’s memory are her husband, Kenneth of Newton; children, Neil (Denise) Johnson of Kansas City, Mo., and Jean (Greg) Hanson of Pleasant Hill; her five grandchildren, Kellie Aiono of Overland Park, Kan., Jill (Adam) Tilton of Leawood, Kan., Chelsea (Andy) Reed of Springfield, Mo., Melissa Hanson of Ankeny and Joe Hanson of Ames; and six great-grandchildren, Belle, Aiden, Henry, Sydney, Abby and Ben.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Roger in infancy; and her siblings, Gwen Oglesby and Bob Rampton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News. ===============================================

Those left to honor Betty Lou’s memory are her husband, Kenneth of Newton; children, Neil (Denise) Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri and Jean (Greg) Hanson of Pleasant Hill; her five grandchildren, Kellie Aiono of Overland Park, Kansas, Jill (Adam) Tilton of Leawood, Kansas, Chelsea (Andy) Reed of Springfield, Missouri, Melissa Hanson of Ankeny and Joe Hanson of Ames; and six great-grandchildren, Belle, Aiden, Henry, Sydney, Abby and Ben. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Roger in infancy; and her siblings, Gwen Oglesby and Bob Rampton.
Betty Lou was a graduate of Mason City High School and she completed one year at Mason City Junior College.

Betty Lou was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 60+ years where she was a Deacon and a member of the choir. She was also a Lifetime member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and a member of Questers.

Betty Lou loved having her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at home. She also enjoyed rose gardening, playing bridge, singing, traveling and reading.
