MRS. G. OTT, 84, DIES AT CLEAR LAKE

CLEAR LAKE – Mrs. George Ott, 84, died early Saturday morning at a Clear Lake nursing home, where she had been for several months.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Ward Funeral Home, Clear Lake, pending word from her son Vincell Hayward Ott, Santa Monica, Calif., and son-in-law, Sigvard Rugland, in Morocco, North Africa.

Vincell Ott is expected to arrive Sunday or Monday. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Monday.

Jeanette Hayward Ott was born May 25, 1878, at Clear Lake, daughter of Charles and Eunice (Harding) Hayward. She attended Clear Lake schools and later taught in country schools.

She was married to George Ott, Dec. 26, 1900, at Clear Lake. Mr. Ott was employed in the county engineer’s office several years. He later operated a meat market in Clear Lake many years.

Mrs. Ott was a member of the Methodist Church, the Library Reading Club, Crescent Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and served 25 years on the library board. She was secretary several years and president 10 years. She retired from the board in 1958.

Surviving are her son, Vincell; two sisters, Mrs. E.M. MacEwen, Iowa City, and Mrs. Floyd E. Barlow, Bradenton.

Transcriber’s Note – Jeanette Hayward Ott was born May 25, 1878, died February 9, 1963 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section 1 Row 12.
