RALPH D. OTT, MAIL CARRIER, DIES AT LAKE

CLEAR LAKE – Ralph D. Ott, 60, 616 3rd Ave. N., retired mail carrier, died Friday evening at a Mason City hospital where he had taken several days before. He had been in poor health for several years.

Mr. Ott concluded 36 years and 10 months of service with the postal department on July 31, 1957. All of his service was spent in the Clear Lake Post Office. He was a city carrier for many years and was honored with other employed at a party on his retirement.

Funeral services are planned for Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church with Dr. John DeLong, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wilcox Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Sunday.

Ralph D. Ott was born Sept. 4, 1898, at Clear Lake, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sol Ott. He attended the local schools and spent his whole life in the community.

Surviving are his wife, Nettie; three sons, Donald and Ralph Jr., Clear Lake, and Jack, Minneapolis; and two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Margaret) Thompson, Mason City; and Mrs. Wesley (Dorothy) Robbins, Clear Lake, and 10 grandchildren.

His mother, Mrs. Sol Ott and two sisters, Mrs. Willis Miller and Mrs. Ed Lincicum, both of Clear Lake, also survive.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Howard Ott, who died in 1931, a brother, Harlan, and his father.

Mr. Ott was a member of the Methodist Church, serving as one of the head ushers for a number of years.
