HOLD RITES FOR AGED RESIDENT
MRS. ROSETTA OWEN, 75, BURIED IN CLEAR LAKE CMEMTERY

CLEAR LAKE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Rosetta Owen, 75, who died at the home of her sister, Mrs. W.D. Hartsough, Friday noon following an illness of two weeks, were held at Ward’s Funeral Home Saturday afternoon. The Rev. Thomas B. Collins conducted the rites and burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Roy Hoit, Oscar Thompson, Elmer Moffett, Harry Freeman, E.W. Winnie and K. Becker. Miss Evelyn Johnson, accompanied by Mrs. Harry Mason, sang as request numbers, “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “When they Ring Those Golden Bells for you and Me.” Mrs. Verne Peterson and Mrs. Charles Woodward arranged the flowers.

Rosetta Mae Riggs was born May 9, 1864, in Winneshiek county and grew to womanhood on a farm in that vicinity. On Nov. 24, 1898, she was married to Frank Eugene Owen and to them one son, Lynn, was born.

The family came to Clear Lake in 1908 and moved to California in 1913, returning to Osage in 1928 and to Clear Lake in 1935. Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her son who died in California and Mr. Owen who died at Clear Lake Jan. 22, 1936.

Mrs. Owen was a member of the Methodist church and in her active years belonged to the Rebekah order. For 20 years she had been badly crippled with arthritis.

Besides her sister, Mrs. Owen is survived by a brother, W.K. Riggs, New Brunswick, N.J., and three grandchildren, Dorothy, Lynn, and Kenneth Owen, living in California.
