LUYMES RITES AT LAKE CHURCH
3 DAUGHTERS, OTHER RELATIVES PRESENT

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Chris Luymes, 62, who died Thursday morning at his farm home south of Emery of a heart attack, were held at the Congregational church Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Verne A. Spindell, pastor, conducted the rites and burisl was in Clear Lake Cemetery. Ward’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were K.G. Leemhuis, G.W. McMurray, Charles Momyer, Oscar Long, F.P. Walker, and Dr. R.M. Schweizer. Mrs. D. Hollenbeck and Mrs. E.R. Rosberg arranged the flowers. Miss Katherine Hughes, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. W.W. Choate, sang “Have Thine Own Way, Lord” and “The Old Rugged Cross.”

Mr. Luymes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Teunis Luymes, was born at Orange City, S. Dak., March 6, 1882. After finishing school at Orange City he learned the trade of a harness-maker and set up business in Armour, S. Dak., following his trade for 35 years. In 1933 he moved to a farm in South Dakota, in 1934 to a farm near Britt and in 1935 to the present residence. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Chris Luymes; 3 daughters, Mrs. Elmer Hansen of Madison, S. Dak., Mrs. Frank Robinson of Miles City, Mont., and Mrs. Maurice Farnham of Aberdeen, S. Dak.; 2 grandchildren, Robert and Judy Farnham of Aberdeen, and 2 sisters, Mrs. J.F. Behrend, Sioux City, and Mrs. George DeJong of Orange City. Two brothers, Herman and Isaac, preceded him in death.

Out of town relatives attending the service were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Farnham, and Bobby, Mrs. Behrend, Mrs. DeJong, and Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Sheley, Iowa City.

Transcriber’s Note – Chris Luymes was born March 6, 1882, died 1944 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery Section 2 Row 4.
