LEONARD B. CASH

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Leonard Cash, 89, of 709 6th Place N., Clear Lake, a buttermaker and former manager at the Clear Lake Cooperative Creamery Association, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake.

He died Wednesday (July 27, 1983) at a Mason City nursing home.

Dr. Lyle Lieder will officiate and burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, where IOOF services will be held at 7 tonight.

Mr. Cash was born in 1893 in Maple Park, Ill., to Walter and Elsie (Beacham) Cash. In 1902 he moved to Clear Lake with his parents. He attended Clear Lake schools and a business college in Mason City. He married Pearl Cheney in 1917 in Clear Lake and farmed near Clear Lake for five years. Mr. Cash started work in the Clear Lake Creamery in 1923 under the late S.S. Hudson, buttermaker. After three years he accepted a position at Rake where was manager of the Lincoln Cooperative Creamery for 10 years. They returned to Clear Lake in 1936 and he became buttermaker and manager of the creamery department at the Clear Lake Cooperative Creamery. He won many medals, certificates of merit and blue ribbons for high quality butter he entered in both state and national contests.

Mr. Cash was a former salesman for Kimball-White Seed Co., and a member of the United Methodist Church and IOOF Lodge, Clear Lake.

Survivors include two brothers, Howard Cash, Clear Lake, and Harry Cash, Laurens, and nieces and nephews.
