DONALD S. EASTMAN

Funeral services for longtime Clear Lake businessman Donald S. Eastman, 69, were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake.

Mr. Eastman, of 512 8th Ave. N., Clear Lake, died Thursday (Feb. 21, 1985) in McAllen, Texas.

The Rev. James Louk officiated and burial was at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mr. Eastman was born Oct. 23, 1915, in Turtle River, Minn., the son of Earl and Annie (Spilman) Eastman. He moved with his family to Clear Lake at an early age, and attended Clear Lake schools, graduating in 1934.

He farmed south of Clear Lake, and was an independent trucker hauling grain and cattle. He owned and operated Eastman Grain Co., in Clear Lake for approximately 20 years, retiring in 1973. He continued trucking until December 1984.

He was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, IOOF Lodge of Clear Lake and the Elks Lodge of Mason City.

Mr. Eastman married the former Liberty Stephens on May 4, 1937, and they were divorced Sept. 20, 1945. He married Myra York on Sept. 20, 1946, in Warroad, Minn.

Survivors include his wife, Myra; two daughters, Ms. Millus Ann Charlson of Waterloo, and Mrs. Jim (Miriam) Eden of Mason City; a son, Earl James of Clear Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Violet) White and Mrs. Harry Baago, both of Clear Lake, and four grandchildren.

The family requests any memorials be given to the Donald S. Eastman Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers.

Honorary pallbearers were Bob Nichols, Glenn Westover, Eugene Meier, Roy Scott, Gene Bonner, James Ransom, Richard Fairbanks and Glenn Brady.

Pallbearers were Verne Severson, Jerry Krause, Kim Pleggenkuhle, Harley Alitz, John Peterson, and Melvin Barlow.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
