L. EDWARDS DIES SUDDENLY

CLEAR LAKE – Lyle H. Edwards, 47, 909 N. 9th, died suddenly Monday evening at a Mason City hospital following a heart attack. He entered the hospital Saturday morning.

Mr. Edwards had operated Lyle and Mel’s Standard Service Station on Highway 106 with Melvin Werle since February 1959.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church with Dr. John DeLong officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. The Ward Funeral Home is in charge.

Lyle Harry Edwards was born July 30, 1912, at Glenville, Minn., the son of Harry and Hattie Edwards. As a young man he lived in Montana for a time with his parents. He attended Clear Lake High School.

He first worked as a mechanic for Hopkins and Wilke and later for Harry Mason. He went with the Sears Construction Co., working on the Alcan Highway in Alaska, and later for the Duesenberg Construction Co. He also worked for a time at the Nichols Garage.

He was married Nov. 27, 1938 to Florence (Pat) French at Clear Lake and they have since lived in Clear Lake.

Surviving are his wife and one son, Gary, now home on leave from the U.S. Coast Guard. Also surviving are one brother, Hubert Edwards, and three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Miller, Mrs. George Westover and Mrs. Cecil Osslund, all of Clear Lake.

His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.

NOTE – Lyle Harry Edwards was born July 30, 1912, died June 9, 1960 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery Section D Row 6.
