RITES HELD FOR H. S. LEVISAY

Funeral services for Hazel Snow Levisay, 73, Clear Lake street commissioner for about 30 years were held Monday afternoon at the Ward Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William R. Noland, Methodist pastor, and Rev. Albert Kurtz, pastor of the Evangelical Free Church, officiating. Mr. Levisay was killed Thursday morning, Jan. 13, about 9:30 when the north-bound city truck he was driving was hit by a west-bound Milwaukee passenger train 2 ½ miles west of Clear lake.

Mrs. William Bickford, Jr., sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden” accompanied by Mrs. Harry Morgan. Flowers were arranged by Mrs. Charles Hill and Miss Nettie Chadbourne. Pallbearers were R.C. Ingersoll, city clerk; Floyd Nesbitt and E.L. Secory, councilmen; M.A. Hintzman, mayor; Sam Schwartz and Roy Law, street department supervisor. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Out-of-town relatives and friends who were present included Mr. and Mrs. John Levisay and family, Princeton, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Lester Levisay and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Levisay, Rockford, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Rowen, Roseburg, Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. James Levisay and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Donovan Cook, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Cook, Mason City, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Meyers, Monroe City, Mo., plus numerous friends from surrounding towns.

Hazel Snow Levisay was born April 5, 1881, at Grassy Meadows, West Virginia, the son of Christopher and Mathilda French Levisay. On May 9, 1903, he was married to Miss Loma Lee Meyers at Lewis, West Virginia, at the Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Daniels. They lived there for six years, then moving to Winfield, Iowa. They have lived in Clear Lake about 26 years.

Survivors include his wife and four sons, Carrell, Detroit, Mich.; John, Princeton, Ill.; Lester, Rockford, Ill., and James, Colorado Springs; and three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Ethel) Cook, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mrs. O.F. (Jean) McGrady, Roseburg, Oregon.; and Mrs. William (Vivian) Zobel, Blue Earth, Minn. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

NOTE - Hazel Snow Levisay was born April 5, 1881, died January 13, 1955 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery Section 7 Row 1.
