D.F. BYERS, 61, DIES AT HOME

CLEAR LAKE -- D. F. Byers, 61, died at his home, 409 W. State Street, at 10 o’clock Monday evening following an illness of 4 months.

Mr. Byers was born Dec. 20, 1883, at Winchester, Van Buren County. He was married at Voltaire, N. Dak., June 25, 1913, to Miss Nellie Conklin. They have lived in Clear Lake since 1919.

Besides his wife, Mr. Byers is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Donald Carr, Mason City; his mother, Mrs. Jennie Byers, who lived in her son’s home; 3 brothers, Ernest and Elmer, Everett, Wash., and Cassius P., Voltaire, and a sister, Mrs. H.H. Ross, Fairbanks, Alaska. One sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Byers was a member of the Masonic order, serving as worship master of the local lodge in 1931, of the O.E.S., Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Libraries and of the Clear Lake fire department, having the care of the fire truck many years.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 o’clock at Masonic Temple with the Rev. C.B. Whitehead, Mason City, in charge. Ward’s Funeral Home is making arrangements and burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

NOTE – DeForest Byers was born December 20, 1883, died April 1945 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery Section E Row 6.
