ETHEL TEED O’BRIEN

MASON CITY – Ethel Teed O’Brien, 92, formerly of Clear Lake, died Tuesday (July 27, 1993) at the I.O.O.F. Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Rev. Bernard Olson officiating. Interment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to services at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Tina Rebekah Lodge, Clear Lake.

Ethel Teed O’Brien was born September 21, 1900, near Clear Lake, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Woskie) Teed. She attended Clear Lake High School.

She worked at Damon’s in Mason City and played the trombone in the Clear Lake Municipal Band prior to her marriage. She married Harry (Stub) O’Brien June 9, 1926, in Clear Lake. She lived most of her life in the Clear Lake area. They owned and operated the O’Brien Store and Cottages in Oakwood Park, Clear Lake.

She moved into the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City in 1986 due to failing health. She belonged to United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, Tina Rebekah Lodge, Clear Lake, Senior Citizens and the Order of the Eastern Star in Clear lake.

She is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Eunice Tice, Mason City, Mrs. Laurleen Fatland, Clear Lake, and Mrs. Josie Crout, Watkins Glen, N.Y.; four nephews, Harold Kocourek, Medford, Mass., James Kocourek, Dania, Fla., William Teed, Dundee, N.Y., and Dan Teed, Watkins Glen, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1972; three sisters, Elizabeth, Mable and Gale; and two brothers, Thomas and Artie.
