LEONARD ALBERT HRUBES

CLEAR LAKE - Leonard Albert Hrubes, 79, of 807 N. Eighth St., Clear Lake, died Monday (Nov. 19, 2001) at the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.

The funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clear Lake, with Monsignor Robert Hogan officiating. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Cemetery in Duncan.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. in Clear Lake, with a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to the Leonard A. Hrubes Memorial Fund.

Leonard was born Sept. 10, 1922, in rural Britt, the son of Albert and Ann (Wellik) Hrubes. He attended rural school. He married Arlene Buseman on Nov. 23, 1943, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan.

He farmed in the Klemme, Rudd and Forest City areas. They later moved to Garner, and in 1971 moved to Clear Lake. He worked for Woodford Wheeler Lumber Co. in Clear Lake until his retirement.

Leonard enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clear Lake.

Leonard is survived by his two children, Jim Hrubes and his wife, Jan, of Sun City, Ariz., and Mary Mitthun and her husband, Marlin, of Thompson; five grandchildren, Bob Hrubes, of Des Moines, Kerri Hrubes, of Pearland, Texas, Jackie Mitthun and her fiancé, Kim Asmus, and their daughter, Haley, of Thompson, Kurt Mitthun and his wife, Paula, of Thompson, and Julie Armstrong and her husband, Paul, of Buffalo Center; nine great-grandchildren, Casandra, Kyle, Cody, Chelsey, Kory, Nicholas, Jake, Haley and Megan; and one sister, Margaret Katuin, of Garner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene, and one brother, Elmer Hrubes.
