ARDEN T. “BUD” MADSON

Arden T. "Bud" Madson, 73, 2416 North Shore Dr., Clear Lake, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side Tuesday, June 6, 2006. For the past year he battled hard and fought courageously with cancer. A memorial service was held Friday, June 9, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. According to his wishes, his body has been cremated. Memorials may be given to the Arden T. Madson Memorial Fund.

Bud was born Jan. 14, 1933 in Henrytown, Minn., the son of Talbert and Helen (Helgeson) Madson. He graduated from Preston High School, Preston, Minn. Bud married Phyllis Putz Aug. 24, 1952 in Fountain City, Wis. Bud started in the bakery business at Holland's in Rochester, Minn. He was the owner of a small bakery in Blair, Wis. and two Mr. Donuts at Sioux City, Iowa. He also worked in an in-store bakery at Dixon, Ill. and in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Then he worked for International Multifoods, Minneapolis, Minn. as tech service. Bud attended ice sculpture and cake decorating school at Wilton School in Chicago, Ill. Bud and his family settled in Clear Lake when he went to work for the Clear Lake Bakery, where he worked for 33 years.

Bud was an avid golfer and fisherman. For the past 10 years he and his wife enjoyed going to Dauphin Island, Ala. with friends during the winter months. He especially loved being with his family and grandchildren!

Bud is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Madson, Clear Lake; four children, Dr. Michael Madson, Mountain View, Calif., James Madson and his wife, Paula, Ames, Iowa, Pati Workman and her husband, Mike, Milford, Iowa and Jon Madson and his wife, Shari, Oakdale, Minn.; five grandchildren, Kayla, Kodak, Tenn., Kimberly, Cedar Falls, Iowa, Kyle, Dodgeville, Wis., Cameron and Noah, Ames, Iowa; his mother, Helen Madson, Mabel, Minn.; two brothers, Warren Madson and his wife, Annabel, Calmar, Iowa, and Tom Madson and Jackie, Mabel, Minn.; two sisters, Joanne Erickson, Cincinnati, Ohio and Susan O'Neill, Chatfield, Minn.; two brothers-in-law, Donald Putz and his wife, Dorothy, Osseo, Wis. and Harry Putz and his wife, Judy, Fountain City, Wis.; sister-in-law, Janice Wogen and her husband, Jon, Olivia, Minn. and many nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his father.
