VIOLA MADSEN

Viola Madsen, 78, of Clear Lake, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1997 at her home.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday), Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Viola Madsen Memorial Fund.

Viola was born Sept. 30, 1918 in Comfrey, Minn., the daughter of Knute and Elizabeth (Kittelson) Lenning. She was united in marriage to Clarence Madsen Sept. 1, 1945 in Mason City. The couple lived in Mason City for a short time before moving to Clear Lake, where she resided until her death.

She enjoyed sewing, baking, doing crafts and visiting her neighbors. She and her husband were also avid bowlers.

She is survived by a son, Gerald Madsen, Clear Lake; a daughter, Donna McCorkle and her husband, Jon, of Mason City; a brother, Arthur Lenning, of Vallejo, Calif.; a sister, Minnie Findlay, Mason City; three grandchildren, Kristine Penca and her husband, Mike, Mary Witt and her husband, Jeremy, and Nicholas McCorkle, all of Mason City; and three great-grandchildren, Clay Penca, Maysen Simmer and Paisley Witt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence in 1986; five sisters, Olive, Mary, Clara and Ina; and four brothers, Ed, Edwin, Clarence and Omar Lenning.
