CLEAR LAKE — Jack A. Enabnit, 82, of rural Clear Lake, died Tuesday (Aug. 11, 2003) at the Muse-Norris Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Clear Lake Christian Church, Hwy 18 West in Clear Lake, with the Rev. Mark Young officiating. Private family inurnment will be in the Mt. Vernon Township Cemetery, south of Clear Lake. The family suggests memorials to the donor’s choice.

Jack Anderson Enabnit was born July 9, 1921, on a farm south of Clear Lake, the son of Art and Helen (Anderson) Enabnit. He attended and graduated from Clear Lake High School.

Jack was united in marriage to Doris A. Bausch on March 6, 1949, at Clear Lake. They had four sons and two daughters. Their youngest daughter, Sarah Marie Enabnit, preceded Jack in death at age 13 in 1984.

Jack had farmed his entire life south of Clear Lake, enjoying God’s creations and working the land.

He especially loved agates and could spot one even while cultivating corn. He liked to polish them and give them as gifts to children. He had been a member of the North Iowa Rock Club.

He was an elder and Sunday school teacher in the Christian Church.

Jack loved people and enjoyed visiting with them. Even following a stroke which made walking difficult and failing ears, he continued to enjoy visiting with his friends at the 3 p.m. coffee hour at McDonald’s.

He was very active in his later years and loved to play volleyball up to age 75.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife and life partner of over 53 years, Doris, of Clear Lake; son, Kenneth Enabnit, of Clear Lake; daughter, Nancy and Robert Lee, of Manhattan, Kan.; sons, Russell and Marian Enabnit, of Clear Lake, Allen and Kristine Enabnit, of Clear Lake, and Steven and Tracy Enabnit, of Houston, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; a brother, Paul and Veronica Enabnit, of Mesa, Ariz.; sisters, Edith Alsbury, of Mason City, Betty Enabnit, of Clear Lake, Ila and Gary Braun, of New Jersey; and LeeAnn and Bill Kurtz, of Klemme.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sarah Marie; and sister, June Enabnit.
