Obituary ~ Ida Constance "Daisy" (Sweeney) Myhr
June 14, 1892 ~ January 26, 1996

CLEAR LAKE - Mrs. Ida Constance "Daisy" Myhr, age 103 years, 7 months and 12 days, of 15 Timberlane Drive, died Friday (Jan. 26, 1996) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church, 205 W. 10th Ave. N., with the Rev. Larry Squier officiating. Interment will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Myhr was born June 14, 1892, in Fairmont, Minn. She was the seventh of eight children born to John and Emma (Farrar) Sweeney. The Sweeneys were farmers near Fairmont, where Mrs. Myhr received her education in rural schools of the area. Upon reaching adulthood, she taught in the rural schools until she met and on June 11, 1915, married B.C. Myhr of Thompson.

The newlyweds lived a few years in Braddock, N.D., and Merriman, Neb., before moving to Mason City in 1922. In 1923, they moved to Clear Lake, where they finally settled. Over the course of 14 years, four children were born to the couple.

Mrs. Myhr has been a resident of Clear Lake for more than 73 years and a member of First Congregational Church for more than 50 years. She also was a member of Clear Lake Tina Rebecca Lodge, Royal Neighbors, Afternoon Bridge Club and Clear Lake Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by her children, Derwin C. Myhr and his wife, Elizabeth, Deer Harbor, Wash., Ellsworth B. Myhr and his wife, Margaret, Sun City, Ariz., Carol F. Myhr and his wife, Lucille, Ocala, Fla., and Norma J. Stephenson and her husband, Clifford, Clear Lake. She was grandmother of 19, great-grandmother of 44 and great-great-grandmother of one.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter-in-law, Patricia; one grandchild; and all her siblings.
