ROBERT O. HICKOK
Mr. Robert O. Hickok, 74, of 624 3rd Street N.E., Mason City, died Sunday at a Mason City hospital.
He was born July 21, 1911 in Cerro Gordo County to Robert and Sarah (Shaffer) Hickok. After attending the Grant Center School, he graduated from Fertile High School in 1929.
On June 6, 1936, Robert married Elsie Zobel at the Methodist parsonage in Clear Lake. He served in the Navy during World War II from March 1944 to Dec. 1945 in Idaho.
Mr. Hickok was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, United Commercial Travelers and the America Legion, all of Mason City. He owned and operated Hickok’s Phillips Service Station in Mason City from 1956-1971.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 19, at Wesley Methodist Church with Rev. Myron Brockmeyer officiating. The organist was Mrs. Delpha Brockmeyer and soloist was Jamie Hickok, granddaughter of the deceased. Interment was in Clear Lake Cemetery with Hogan Bremer Colonial in charge of services.
Pallbearers were: Floyd Zobel, Ernest Zobel, Richard Williams, Ray Matson, Richard Matson, and Larry Shaffer.
Mr. Hickok is survived by his wife, Elsie; daughter, Mrs. Richard (Trudy) Williams, Tracy, Minn.; two sons, Gary, Clearwater, Fla.; and Dennis, Owatonna, Minn., and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mrs. Wayne Wolford.
