Obituary - Maxine May (Priebe) Johnson
May 14, 1918 ~ January 28, 2005

MASON CITY — Maxine May Johnson, 86, of Mason City died Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) at Heritage Care Center.

Funeral services for Maxine will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with the Rev. Jim Stiles officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood- St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church.

Maxine was born May 14, 1918, the daughter of Herman F. and Clara L. (Geiss) Priebe in Mason City. She attended school in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School in 1936.

Maxine then attended Hamilton School of Business in 1937.

She was united in marriage to Elvin G. Johnson on April 2, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Maxine worked for Meir Wolf & Sons, Ray Pauley Co., and most recently as a bookkeeper for the Mason City Water Department, from which she retired in 1969.

Maxine was a member of First United Methodist Church, and was a member of the church friends circle. She also volunteered in the office at the church as a helper.

Maxine is survived by her stepdaughter, Pat E. Johnson of Plano, Texas; and many stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Elvin; one stepson, Robert E. Johnson; two brothers and four sisters.
