Obituary - Verna M. (Lerwick) Jensen
May 20, 1912 ~ September 25, 1999

MASON CITY - Verna M. Jensen, 87, of 15692 Lark Ave., Mason City, Saturday (Sept. 25, 1999) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with Dean Swenson and Richard Davis officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. and until time of services on Tuesday.

Verna was born May 20, 1912, in Albion, Wyo., the daughter of August and Hattie (Olson) Lerwick. Verna attended and graduated from Jewell High School and went on to receive her nurses training at St. Anthony's Hospital, in Denver, Colo.

Verna married Lloyd A. Jensen on Aug. 2, 1937. She worked as a nurse at Americana Nursing Home and later Park Hospital.

Verna is survived by her sons, Arnold Jensen and his wife, Jane, of Mason City, and Howard Jensen and his wife, Sharon, of Mequon, Wis.; daughter, Carolyn Jensen, of Des Moines; grandchildren, Lisa Galloway and her husband, Kevin, of Baxter, Andrew Jensen, of Tyler, Texas, Matthew Jensen, of Malcom, Craig Jensen and his wife, Anne, of Atlanta, Ga., Mark Jensen and his wife, Charmaine, of Largo, Fla., Curtis Jensen, of Madison, Wis., Darin Jensen, of Wausau, Wis., James Hillson, of Atlanta, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Noah Galloway; brothers, Orville Lerwick and his wife, Ada, of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., Melvin Lerwick, and his wife, Margaret, of Lyman, Neb. Glenn Lerwick and his wife, Phyllis, of Albion, Wyo., and Harold Lerwick, of New Baltimore, Mich.; sisters, Mildred Morrison and her husband, Wade, of Cheyenne, Wyo., Dorothy Olson and her husband, Ray, of Twin Falls, Idaho; Esther Hopkins, of Cheyenne, Wyo. and several nieces and nephews.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
