Obituary - Lloyd A. Jensen
December 01, 1910 ~ April 03, 1999

MASON CITY - Lloyd A. Jensen, 88, of 1518 Meadowbrook Dr., died Saturday (April 3, 1999) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania, Mason City, with the following officiants: Lyle Schober, Richard Davis and Ruth Klevgard. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lloyd A. Jensen was born Dec. 1, 1910, near Parkersburg, Iowa, to Andrew and Jennie (Williamson) Jensen. At a young age his family moved to Greene, Iowa, where he attended school.

Lloyd worked for a dry goods store and then ran his own grocery store in Greene for a few years before moving to Mason City in 1935. He worked for a sign company for a short time before starting his own sign business in April of 1936, Jensen Neon Sign Company.

Lloyd married Verna M. Lerwick Aug. 2, 1937. They raised their family in Mason City where he ran his company for 58 years.

Lloyd's family includes his wife, Verna M. Jensen of Mason City; two sons, Arnold Jensen and his wife, Jane, of Mason City, and Howard Jensen and his wife, Sharon, Mequon, Wis.; a daughter, Carolyn Jensen of Des Moines; nine grandchildren, Lisa Galloway and her husband, Kevin, of Newton, Iowa, Andrea Jensen of Tyler, Texas, Matthew Jensen of Pella, Iowa, Craig Jensen and his wife, Anne, of Atlanta, Ga., Mark Jensen and his wife, Charmaine, of Largo, Fla., Curtis Jensen of Madison, Wis., Darin Jensen of Mequon, Wis., James Hillson of Des Moines and Gregory Hillson of Des Moines; a great-grandchild, Thomas Galloway; two sisters, Ethel Anderson of Watertown, S. D., and Emma Eames and her husband, Maynard, of Forest City, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
