MRS. RALPH CAFFREY FEBRUARY 22, 1898 – APRIL 5, 1976
Mrs. Ralph O. (Mae) Caffrey, 78, of Mason City and a former Clear Lake resident, died April 5 at a Mason City hospital following an automobile accident on Sunday morning while on her way to church.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 8 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Lutheran Church, three miles northwest of Ventura. Pastor R. W. Uecker will officiate and interment made in Mt. Vernon Township Cemetery, south of Clear Lake. Pallbearers will be nephews. Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mae G. Caffrey was born Feb. 22, 1898 on the family farm southeast of Clear Lake, the daughter of James and Nettie (Van Horn) Barlow. She received her education in rural schools and was later married to Ralph O. Caffrey. They farmed south of Clear Lake and upon retirement purchased an acreage near Miller, Iowa.
Mr. Caffrey died in 1963. In 1973 Mrs. Caffrey moved to her home in Mason City.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Amy Lou) Miller, Mason City; one son James, who lived with his mother; one sister, Mrs. Genevieve Wood, Coffeeville, Kansas; two brothers, Vern and Dale Barlow, both of Clear Lake; one granddaughter, Jackie Rae Miller, Mason City.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Gae Oehlsen in September 1975, and a brother, Wayne.
