MRS. JAMES BARLOW DIES, RITES MONDAY
SEPTEMBER 20, 1875 – OCTOBER 10, 1969

CLEAR LAKE – Mrs. James (Nettie) Barlow, 94, Clear Lake, Route 1, died Thursday evening at a Mason City hospital where she had been the last four weeks.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Worthie K. Usher, pastor, and her grandson, the Rev. Vern J. Barlow, Taylor, Wis., officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Township Cemetery. Visitation is to be after 2 p.m. Saturday at the ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home.

Nettie Mae Barlow was born Sept. 20, 1875, the daughter of Chandler and Louisa Van Horn. She attended rural schools south of Clear Lake where her parents farmed. She was married to James Barlow Dec. 25, 1892, at her parents’ farm home. The couple farmed south of Clear Lake until his death in 1958.

For several years she lived with her children until entering a Clear Lake nursing home three years ago.

Mrs. Barlow is survived by two sons, Dale, Route 1, Clear Lake; Vern, Route 1, Mason City; three daughters, Mrs. George (Gae) Oehlson, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Ralph (Mae) Caffrey, Garner; Mrs. Chester (Genevieve) Wood, Coffeyville; a sister, Mrs. Clara Hulbert, Oakland, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her husband , she was preceded in death by a son, Wayne, in 1969; a son and two daughters, in infancy; three brothers and a sister.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Sing and Sew Club. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Mrs. Harry Mason will be the organist.
