FUNERAL RITES FOR MRS. WARD HELD SUNDAY
Funeral services for Mrs. Floyd Ward, 45, who passed away in the Iowa City hospital Thursday morning following a major operation, were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church. The Rev. Roy H. Cox conducted the rites and burial was in Mt. Vernon cemetery. Ward’s funeral home was in charge.
Pallbearers were Floyd and Verne Hunt, Art Butts, Claude Miller, Leonard Davis and Ray Baker. Sylvia Booth, radio chapel singer of Mason City sang “With Jesus Today,” “God’s Other Room” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere,” during the service.
Mrs. Ward was taken to the Mercy hospital in Mason City on May 16 and on May 29 a toe was amputated. She was then taken to a hospital in Iowa City on May 31, where she underwent an operation for the amputation of her right leg on Wednesday, June 8. She died Thursday morning.
Grace Lillian Normandin was born at Ellsworth, Ia., February 2, 1893 and passed away at the Iowa City hospital at the age of 45 years 3 months and 7 days. She was the daughter of George E. and Lillian A. Normandin.
On September 20, 1911 she was united in marriage to Floyd Ward. To this union four children were born, two preceding her in death, Opal M. and Oral L. Those left to mourn her passing are her husband and two daughters, Norma Genell, 14, and Phyllis Joann, 5.
Mrs. Ward is also survived by seven sisters and two brothers, Robert E. Normandin of Waterloo, Milton E. Normandin of Colfax, Ia., Mrs. Lottie Thompson and Ida Johnson of Ojai, Calif., Mrs. Mattie Rosenberg of Galesburg, Ill., Mrs. Ruth Newport of Perry, Ia., Mrs. Blanche Erwin of Stanhope, Ia., and Mrs. Edna L Jones of Morris, Ill.
NOTE - Grace Lillian Ward died June 8, 1938.
